ClimateRefugiaNSW is a decision support tool to: identify and visualise putative refugia from climate change for species listed as threatened in New South Wales; download habitat suitability maps for key species; and generate reports for major administrative regions.
At the foundation of this website are models of potential geographic shifts in suitable habitat for ~328 threatened species. The maps are not projections of species' distributions per se; rather, they should be viewed as areas that contain climate, soil or topographic conditions commonly found through each species' current range.
To use this tool, either search for a species or view maps of regions likely to be refugia for multiple species.
